I love trees. Since I was a child, I have loved watching the branches dance in the wind. The sound of branches and leaves rustling in the breeze in the quiet evening, lifting my long hair away from my shoulders, holding me in a gentle incantation.
The seasons of the trees are miraculous to me now as I live in paradise. My memories of the sound of ice after a winter storm crackling and falling from the white, glistening branches as the wind blows; the colorful dance of autumn leaves swirling above my head and falling to the ground crackling underfoot. The smell of leaf piles in Fall. The budding trees in spring, blossoms fill my hair.
When my daughters were little, I'd hug trees with them and for them and because of them. These were the moments I decided again that I did not care what others thought of me, yet cared immensely how my children saw me as a guardian and lover of earth, beasts, our pets, them, and all children. Hugging trees communicates that to children who laugh and love and are joyful.
